The culture of Bangladesh has a unique and more than 2500 years ago. The land, the rivers and the lives of the common people formed a rich heritage with marked differences from neighboring regions. A woman began to gain respect and security in her husband's or father- in-law's household only after giving birth to a son. The culture of Bangladesh is composite, and over centuries has assimilated influences of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, and Islam. It is manifested in various forms, including music, dance and drama; art and craft; folklores and folktales; languages and literature, philosophy and religion, festivals and celebrations, as also in a distinct cuisine and culinary tradition.

Santiniketan India
Santiniketan is a small city close to Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal, India, and around 180 kilometres north of Kolkata (previously Calcutta ). It has been made renowned by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, whose vision became what is now a university town ( Visva-Bharati University ) that attracts thousands of visitors whole over the world every year. Shantiniketan is a tourist attraction also because Rabindranath lived here and penned many of his literary classics (namely Tagore songs, poems, novels etc.) and his residence is a place of historical significance.
