Bangladesh Television is a national TV channel in Bangladesh. The short name is known as BTV. It is at Rampura, Dhaka. BTV is a state-owned public broadcaster company.
It has started it journey from 1964 in Pakistan period. That time, it was located at DIT Bhavan near Dhilkhusa, Dhaka. Ministry of Information runs this organization. On 9th February 1975, it shifted to the present location. The BTV started the color program in 1980. It has two program originating places and fourteen relay stations in the whole country. They are Dhaka (Main center) and Chittagong (Sub-center).
BTV has a preparation to go the HD Television structure. They want to make it full automation. Bangladesh Television will modify the terrestrial broadcasting system from Analog to Digital (DVB-T) within ITU time frame 2015. It has covered 97 percent area of Bangladesh. It telecast vital national programs, like news, live commentary, Natok, live talk show, serials, health, fashion, national and international sports, music, movie, magazine show, agriculture and more. They also telecast unique program for Edul Aza, Durga Puja. It celebrates the nation days.
BTV World is another TV channel. The television runs under the supervision of Bangladesh Television. It is Satellite TV. It started on April 11, 2004. So BTV World TV program can be seen from rest of the world. It is giving 24 hours Satellite programs service. It works as a sister channel of BTV.
