Dhaka Polytechnic Institute has established in the year 1995 is one of the best and oldest
diploma colleges in Bangladesh.
The institute started its journey with only 120 students in the first year class of diploma engineering. At the beginning there were only four departments in the institute but at present the institute has grown significantly. There are about eleven technological courses that the institute is offering at this moment. It also arranges various seminars and workshops for sharing knowledge to the students and industrials. It also has a research body which conducts research activities and publishes them periodically.

Facilities Available for the Students
The institute has hostel facility for both male and female students. There are five hostels in Dhaka Polytechnic Institute in which one hostel is allocated for the female candidates. The hostels are Latif Hostel East, Latif Hostel West, Zahir Raihan Hostel, Dr. Motahar Hossain Hostel. It has a huge library with thousands of books related to the subjects of various departments. The institute also has a medical centre for the students’ health. The labs are equipped with modern technologies.
Admission Procedure and Eligibility
The admission procedure is according to the rules and regulations of the technical education board. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) takes an admission test for the candidates who want to get admitted in polytechnic institute. The students who are in the merit list are admitted in the institute according their merit position. If any seat remains vacant, the seat is filled up calling students from the waiting list. The admission result and the name of selected candidates are published in the notice board.
The candidates must have minimum GPA 3.5 in SSC or equivalent examination to be qualified to apply for the admission. The candidates have to get eligible grade in general math and higher math determined by DTE.
According to the rule of DTE the students have to apply through online for admission. The application form is available in the website of DTE. The payment for application has to be made through Teletalk mobile SMS.
