About Mirpur Zoo Dhaka

The Mirpur Zoo Dhaka is home to more than 2,000 animals from 165 species. It is under Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, It has started its journey at the High Court premises in Dhaka in 1964, and moved to its present location in 1974 and had been developed and improved over the years. About 4 million visitors visit Dhaka zoo every year. The place is the most favorite to the kids. It has a calm atmosphere. It has acquired land 75.53 hectors of land. There are two lakes in the zoo, and they are South Lake 7.29 Hector and North Lake 5.67 hectors.

The Museum is an important addition to the Dhaka Zoo. It is a two-storied building located at the southwest corner of the zoo housed the fish aquarium, library, and lecture theatre. Various rare animals and birds are preserved by stuffing and in the jar. It contributes to recreation, learning, and research.

The main attraction of the zoo is Royal Bengal Tigers of Sundorban. It has a rich collection of animals, birds, and wildlife of both local and foreign origin. It has 2150 types of vertebrates belonging to 191 species. There are different kinds of animals like elephant, cheetah, rhinoceros, zebra, waterbuck, otter, hyena, deer, giraffes, impala, black bear, tapir, hippo, lion and many different species of monkeys, as well as chimpanzees and baboons can see in the zoo.

There are five more zoos in the towns of Rangpur, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Comilla, and Khulna.

Visiting Hours and Timing

Weekly holiday is Sunday. Normally it is open on official hours. Time Schedule of Dhaka Zoo are differen in different season. Summer season (April to October) 9.00AM- 6.00 PM, Winter season (November to March) 8.00AM-5.00 PM
Entrance fees:

Main gate entrance fee above two years Tk. 30.00 BDT, Zoo museum entrance fee Tk. 05.00 BDT. Children are free entry ages of below 02 years and students are half with show ID card (with condition).
