Manikganj ( মানিকগঞ্জ ) is a district under Dhaka Division. It is in central Bangladesh. The area is 1378.99 sq km. It was turned into a district in 1984. It consists of 1 municipality, 7 Upazilas, 65 Union Parishads, 1357 Mouzas, nine wards, 49 mahallas and 1647 villages. The name Manikganj comes from the name of Sufi Manik Sha.
The city stands on the bank of the Kaliganga River.Manikganj is noted for its Hazari Gur. Singer Mumtaz is from this district. Manikganj Travel is a one-day package.
