North South University is the first private university in Bangladesh. It is at Bashundhara, Dhaka-1229. The nickname of the University is
NSU.
About North South University
North South University was approved by the government of Bangladesh as a private university in the year 1992 under the Private University Act. The prime minister of Bangladesh formally inaugurated the University on February 10, 1993. The vision of the university is to become a center of excellence in the higher education sector of Bangladesh. The mission of the University is to build up competent graduates in various disciplines. It believes that the students of this university will be ethical and socially responsible.
Subjects and Departments
Credits completed from NSU are widely accepted in many reputed Universities of UK, USA, Australia, and Canada. The subjects in School of Business and Economics include Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, Marketing and International Business. There are also many disciplines for Engineering and Physical Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Life Sciences, etc. The faculty members of this University are very my knowledgeable. The faculty members consist of both local and foreign instructors. They are very much committed to developing the intellectual skills of the students.
Facilities Available for the Students
The students of NSU get the opportunity to participate in various clubs- art and photography club, athletics club, cine and drama club, debating club, earth club, ethics club and finance club. There are many other clubs where the students can participate to develop their intellectual ability. There are open auditorium, counseling center, cafeteria, health care center, recreation and prayer room for the students.
NSU also provides various Scholarships and waivers to the meritorious students for their excellent performance in the semester final examinations. It encourages the students to perform better in different tests to avail of the financial aids.
Admission Procedure and Eligibility
NSU admits new students every year. The candidates must have GPA 3.5 in both SSC and HSC examinations. The O-level students must have 2.5 or above and the required average grade point for A level students is 2.00.
The eligible candidates have to sit for an admission test. A score of 1200 in SAT and 550 in TOEFL or 5.5 in IELTS does not require the entrance test.
The candidates have to collect admission form paying Tk. 1000 from the admission office of Bashundhara, Level-1. You can also download the admission form from NSU website and then submit the filled up admission form with the given fee.
The required documents at the time of submission of admission application form include- properly filled out the application form, four passport-sized photos, copies of all the certificates and mark sheets, recommendation or testimonial from the previous educational institutions, and photocopy of National ID card.
