Glass Ceramic Polytechnic Diploma College Bangladesh

Bangladesh Institute of Glass and Ceramics is a public institute in Bangladesh established in the year 1951. It is also one of the most oldest and reputed diploma colleges in Bangladesh.
The nickname of the institute is BIGC. It is regulated by Bangladesh Technical Education Board. The classes in the institute are conducted in two shifts. The first shift in from 8.00 am to 1.30 pm and the second shift is from 1.35 pm to 7.40 pm. The institute provides diploma in engineering degree to the students. To get admitted in the vocational courses the students must have passed minimum 8th grade.

Facilities available for the Students

There is a library in the institute in the first floor of the academic building. There are also two labs. The labs include physics lab and physical testing lab. The class rooms of the institute are well furnished with chairs, tables, beaches and computers. There is no multimedia and air condition facility in the class room. There is an auditorium in the institute which can accommodate about 100 students. All the programs in the institute are arranged in the auditorium room.

Courses Offered by The Institute

The institute offers diploma engineering and vocational courses to the students. The diploma engineering course length in of 4 years and the vocational course is 2 year long. There are 19 teachers in the institute to provide quality education to the students. Among the 19 teachers 14 of them are permanent teachers and 5 of them are guest teachers. The students are taught computer courses as extracurricular activities. There is also a scout club in the institute.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

The admission form can be collected from the Technical Education Office in Agargaon and The administrative office of the institute. The students may also apply online through the website of Technical Education Board.
The students have to pay a fee of TK 200 to the Administrative office of the institute. There is 10% women quota, six students are admitted in Freedom fighter quota, and 2 students are admitted in tribe quota.
The candidates must have GPA 3.00 in SSC or equivalent examination and 3.00 in mathematics and higher mathematics.
