The Barisal University is the only general public University in Barisal and stands to be the 33rd public University of Bangladesh.
About Barisal University
It started its journey as an institution from January 25th, 2012. The foundation of the University was declared by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1973. Though its ranking is still not known, the Barisal University being one of the youngest institutes of Bangladesh has proved its efficiency to be a premier center of learning in the country. This is not a residential University, and therefore, they do not have any Halls like other residential universities in Bangladesh. There are local hostels for ladies and gents that students from distant state and country take on rent during their studies in the University.
