Hatirjheel is a lakefront at Begunbari in
Dhaka, Bangladesh. The place is for fresh air and open area. It was inaugurated by Prime Minister on January 2, 2013.
About Hatirjheel
Though the main objective was to create a semi-bridge over the canal, it has turned into a recreational place. Every evening people come to enjoy the lighting and fresh air in the Jheel area. In the past, the Bhawal Raja kept his tamed elephants in Pilkhana. They were brought in Jheel for bathing. Hence, the place has been named Hatir Jheel. The Jheel is the largest water body inside the capital. During the rainy season, it can hold 4.81 billion liters of water. Moreover, it can hold about 3.06 billion liters of water in the dry season. At present, water treatment project is going on. Hence, you will be able to enjoy fresher air very soon.

How to Go
To go to Hatirjheel, you have to get down to the Hatir Jheel link road. The Jheel is 13 km away from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. So, it may take 30 minutes to reach the site. From Gabtoli, the site is 9 km away through Mirpur Road. Therefore, you may need 20 to 25 minutes to reach the site unless there is any traffic jam. From Saidabad Bus Station, the site is 6.5 km away. Hence, it will take about 20 minutes to reach the site.

The address of the site is 23/1 Hatir Jheel Link Road, Dhaka- 1215. It falls in the Begunbari area. Moreover, it remains open from 9 am to 6 pm. The contact number is 02-8140310.
