Kali Puja is a bengali religion festival for Bangladeshi and Indian Hindu

Maa Kali Puja

Kali Puja is going to held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018. This is a Bengali religion festival. Bangladeshi and Indian Hindu Bengali do this event with joyfully.

Maa Kali has several different names. These are Shyama, Adya Maa, Tara Maa, Dakshina Kalika, Shasan Kali, Chamundi, and Bhadrakali. This is a festival to the Hindu goddess Kali, celebrated on the new moon day of the Hindu month Ashwin in Bengal. It coincides with the pan-Indian Lakshmi Puja day of Diwali. While the Bengalis, Oriyas, and Assamese adore goddess.

About Kali Puja

The festival of Kali Pooja is not a very old one. Kali Puja was practically unfamiliar before the 18th century. Kali Puja gained fame in the 19th century, with Rishana Chandra’s grandson Ishvarchandra and the Bengali elite; wealthy landowners began patronizing the festival on a grand scale. In West Bengal especially in Kolkata, Barasat, and Madhyamgram, on the month of Ashwin according to Bengali calendar which falls the month of October or November. While people of all over India celebrate Diwali.

Kali has four arms; she holds a sword in her upper left hand and demons head on the lower left hand. Her other two hands bless her devotees. Her eyes are red and her body is with blood. Three modes of time,  Her three eyes represent the past, present, and future.

Way of Puza

Kali puja (like Durga Puja) worshipers honor goddess Kali in their homes in the form of clay idols and in pandals (temporary shrines or open pavilions). Hindus worship her at night with Tantric rites and mantras. She is prescribed offerings of red hibiscus flowers, animal blood in a skull, sweets, rice and lentils, fish and meat. It is prescribed that a worshipper should meditate throughout the night until dawn. Homes may also practice rites in the Brahmanical (mainstream Hindu-style, non-Tantric) tradition with a ritual dressing of Kali in her form as Adya Shakti Kali. Animals are ritually sacrificed on Kali Puja day and offer to the goddess. A celebration of Kali Puja in Kolkata is also held in a large cremation ground where she is believed to dwell.

Kalighat Temple

Devotees visit The Kalighat Temple in Kolkata and offer animal sacrifices to the goddess. Another famous temple dedicated to Kali in Kolkata is Dakshineswar Kali Temple. The famous Kali devotee Ramakrishna was a priest at this temple.

In Bangladesh Kali Puja also celebrate whole over the country. Once Kali may be a goddess of tribal.
