Kazi Nazrul Islam (কাজী নজরুল ইসলাম) was born in Churulia, Bardhaman district, West Bengal, India. Known as Bidrohi Kabi (The Rebel Poet), he was a multifaceted genius: poet, writer, composer, singer, and revolutionary. His boyhood name was Dhukho Mia. After serving briefly in the British Army, he dedicated his life to literature and music, producing an immense body of work that remains profoundly popular among Bengalis. He is honored as the National Poet of Bangladesh.
