Sonali Bank is the largest national leading commercial government bank in Bangladesh. SBL is its short name. The corporate headquarter is at Motijheel in Dhaka. It is the main commercial center area of the capital Dhaka.

After the liberation of Bangladesh, this bank along with two smaller banks was merged into Sonali Bank. This bank was nationalized under government order in 1972.
