Officially, the Sylhet Agricultural University started its journey from November 2nd 2006 according to the Sylhet Agricultural University Act 2006, passed by the National Parliament on October 3rd 2006. The varsity aims to offer quality higher agricultural education and to make agricultural scientists and technologists who can serve the best for the agro development of the country. Admission notice of UG programs 2014-15 offered by Sylhet Agriculture University has already been published. The admission will be finalized considering the result of the admission test of each unit. There are 8 units right now under which the departments have divided their admission tests. The tentative date and time of the tests are about to e scheduled on October 2014. Hostel and Accommodation
SAU is residential. That is why the varsity takes the responsibility to offer residential arrangements for the students who are admitted here. There are 473 seats for male students and 188 seats for female candidates in Sylhet Agricultural University. There are provosts who take care of the hostel administration of the university.
