Bangladesh Education Board or Intermediate and Secondary Education Boards is a self-regulating organization. The short name is BISE. They work in the field of secondary education administration and management in Bangladesh. The board is known as  Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.

The working area of Bangladesh Education Board is to organized JSC, SSC, and HSC examination,  forming managing committees of schools and colleges. And much more.  It is also an autonomous institution responsible for regulating the non-government educational institutions.

Bangladesh Education Board

Education Board was established in the year 1921 according to the recommendation of Sadler Commission. High Schools, Intermediate Colleges, Madrashas operates under the supervision of Bangladesh Education Board. An advisory board proposed by the director of public education was given the authority to administer the board. The board has been playing a vital role in the development of the education sector of Bangladesh since its establishment. There are nine educational boards in Bangladesh.

Dhaka Board

Dhaka Education Board started its journey in 1961. The short name is BISE-Dhaka.  The office is at 13-14 Joynag Rd, Bakshi Bazar in  Dhaka 1211. The official website is http://www.barisalboard.gov.bd/.

Barisal Board

Barisal Education Board started its journey in 1999. The short name is BISE-Barisal. The board deals with the Districts, Barisal, Patuakhali, Barguna, Bhola, Pirojpur, and Jhalakathi of Barisal Division. Rajshahi Board

Rajshahi Education Board started its journey in 1961. The short name is BISE-Rajshahi.  The office is at Greater Rd, Rajshahi 6000. The official website is http://www.rajshahieducationboard.gov.bd/.

Comilla Board

Comilla Education Board started its journey in 1961. The short name is BISE-Comilla.  The office is at Laksham Rd, Comilla - 3500. The official website is http://www.comillaboard.gov.bd/.

Jessore board

Jessore Education Board started its journey in 1963. The short name is BISE-Jessore.  The office is at Jessore Sadar, Dhaka - Khulna Hwy, Jessore 7400. The official website is http://www.jessoreboard.gov.bd.

Chittagong Board

Chittagong Education Board started its journey in 1995. The short name is BISE-Chittagong.  The office is at CDA Avenue, Muradpur, Chittagong. The official website is http://www.chittagongboard.gov.bd.

Sylhet  Board

Sylhet Education Board started its journey in 1977. The short name is BISE-Sylhet.  The office is at Alampur Sylhet. The official website is http://www.Sylhetboard.gov.bd.

Madrasah

Madrasah Education Board started its journey in 1979. The short name is BMEB.  The office is at Joynag Rd, Dhaka. The official website is http://www.bmeb.gov.bd/.

Technical

Sylhet Education Board started its journey in 1960. The short name is BTEB.  The office is at Agargoa, Share Bangla Nagar, Dhaka. The official website is http://www.bteb.gov.bd.

Main responsibilities of Education Board

The board is also responsible for carrying out various board examinations. At present, the board has many responsibilities as the government has started to take JSC, JDC and PSC exams in addition to SSC and HSC examinations with routine.

There are also many polytechnic colleges and dental, medical college institutions in Bangladesh. The responsibility of the education board is to arrange an integrated admission test for these institutions and coordinate the courses in these establishments.

At present, there are nine boards of intermediate and secondary education in Bangladesh. They are Dhaka, Rajshahi, Comilla, Jessore, Chittagong, Barisal, Sylhet, Madrasah and Technical board. Education Board also coordinates the efforts of these individual boards to develop the education sector of Bangladesh.

Publication of Results

Education board is also responsible for publishing the exam results of various board examinations taken by the boards. Presently education board publishes PSC, JSC, JDC, SSC, and HSC exam results. It is a challenge for Education Board to take exams and release results at a specific date within the deadline.

These statistics helps the Ministry of Education, Government, Boards and various educational institutions to make policies to improve the educational system of Bangladesh.

Online Admission

To improve the HSC admission procedure in the colleges, the education board has taken initiatives for online entry. Hence, the students will no more have to run to various colleges to collect admission forms. They will be able to complete the admission procedure online and make payment through Teletalk SMS system.
