Islamic University is a major public university in Bangladesh located in south-west part of the country. The nickname of the university is IU.
About Islamic University
It is a unique educational institution in Bangladesh that has integrated the general studies with Islamic studies. The university also provides education in the field of science and technology. Not only the local students but the foreign students can also take education from this university. The university has 175 acres of land beside Kushtia-khulna highway. It started its operation in June 28, 1986. At present, about 10 thousands regular students study in this university. Since the establishment the university has been providing quality education to the students.
Subjects and Departments
It has five faculties and twenty two departments. They are – faculty of Theology and Islamic studies, Humanities and social science, Law and Shariah, Business administration, and Applied Science and Technology. The university has pool of quality teachers, instructors, and researchers who are continuously working to provide the best education to the students so that they can cope up with the intense competition in the modern world.
Facilities Available for the Students
The university has residential facility for the students. It has 7 halls for the students in which 4 for male and 3 for male students. It has a very big central library with thousands of books in various subjects. There are also computer center and medical care center for the students. For the nonresident students the university has transportation facility. There are also indoor and outdoor gaming opportunities for the students.
Islamic University Kushtia Admission Procedure
Islamic University, Kushtia will admit 1465 students in 8 units (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H). There are 8 faculties and 22 departments which have been classified into 8 units.
The students must have combined GPA 6.5 for Business Studies, 6.75 for Science Studies, and 6.00 for Humanities in both SSC and HSC examination.
The candidates have to apply online in this website: www.iu.ac.bd. After application the students have to pay the admission application fee of Tk. 400 through Teletalk SMS service.
In the SMS the following format has to be followed:
At first type IU and then the name of the board of HSC, Roll number, and Passing year. After that, type the board name of SSC, Roll number, passing year along with your desired unit.
For Example: IU DHA 123456 JES 12345 2012 G
The students will be informed about the date of admission test through SMS in the number given in the admission application form.
