Northern University is one of the famous universities in Bangladesh. It is at Banani in Dhaka. The nickname of the University is NUB.

About Northern University

Northern University Bangladesh was established in the year 2002 by a group of eminent academics. The university is approved by University Grant Commission and Ministry of Education. It has set up according to the provisions of Private University Act 1992. At present, it is one of the largest private universities in Bangladesh having six campuses in which four campuses are within Dhaka and two are out of Dhaka. At present, the university operates under NSU Trust. The mission of the university is to provide education that is directly linked to the socioeconomic development of the country. Providing higher quality education at lowest possible cost is committed. Since its establishment, the university has been playing the crucial role in the development of private education sector of the country.

Subjects and Departments

At present, there are five faculties in this university. They are- Faculty of Science and Engineering, Business Studies, Arts and Humanities, Law, and Health Science. Under faculty of business studies, the university provides three degrees- BBA, MBA, and MBM (Masters in Bank Management). Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Electrical and Electronics, and Textile Engineering departments constitute the faculty of science and engineering. The departments in Arts Faculty include- English, Governance Studies, etc. The teachers and instructors of this university are very much skilled and qualified. They are committed to providing the best education to the students.

Facilities Available for the Students

NUB has a tremendous library having over 97,413 books, 534 audiovisual materials, 4,500 theses and 927 printed journals. It also has an online library with about 30,000 e-books and e-journals. It also has a cafeteria and fitness center for the students. NUB offers various scholarships for the students. The scholarships are available for both meritorious and underprivileged students. Besides these, the university encourages to participate in various campus activities to increase their extracurricular activities. All the classrooms of the University are multimedia and air-conditioned. All the campuses are free from all kinds of politics and smoking.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

• For Bachelor Program, the candidates must have minimum GPA 2.5 in both SSC and HSC examination.

• The O-level students must have completed at least five subjects, and A-level students must have completed at least two subjects with minimum C grade.

• Interested candidates may apply online or collect the application form from the admission office. The filled up form have to be submitted paying Tk. 300.

• The students have to submit six copies of colored photos along with all the academic certificates and mark sheets.

• An admission committee will verify all the information, and the students not eligible for admission will be disqualified.
