The name Pabna might be derived from the Pundra or Poondrobordhon civilization. There is a 450-bed mental hospital, the second oldest in the Indian Subcontinent. Ishwardi is one of the important railway junctions of North Bengal and Bangladesh. The district’s main town consists of fifteen (15) wards and thirty-four (34) Mahallas, with an area of 18.64 square kilometers.
