Glass Ceramic Institute A Polytechnic Diploma College in Bangladesh

Glass Ceramic Institute is a public institute in Bangladesh established in the year 1951. It is also one of the oldest and reputed diploma colleges in Bangladesh. The nickname of the Institute is BIGC. Bangladesh Technical Education Board regulates it. The Institute conducts two shifts of class. The first shift in from 8.00 am to 1.30 pm and the second shift is from 1.35 pm to 7.40 pm. The institute provides diploma in engineering degree to the students. To get admitted in the vocational courses, the students must have passed minimum 8th grade.

Facilities for the Students

There is a library in the institute on the first floor of the academic building. There are also two labs. The labs include physics lab and physical testing lab. The classrooms of the institute are well furnished with chairs, tables, beaches and computers. There is no multimedia and air condition facility in the class room. There is an auditorium in the institute which can accommodate about 100 students.

Courses

The institute offers diploma engineering and vocational courses to the students. The diploma engineering course length in of 4 years and the vocational course is two years long. There are 19 teachers in the Institute to provide quality education to the students. Among the 19 teachers, 14 of them are permanent teachers, and 5 of them are guest teachers. The students are taught computer courses as extracurricular activities. There is also a scout club in the Institute.
