About Southern University

The university was established in the year 1998 to (or “intending to”) building up business graduates. It offers Bachelor and Masters in the variety of disciplines. It has got recognition from University Grant Commission and Ministry of Education of Bangladesh. So it is one of the legal private universities in Chittagong operates under private university act 1992 revised in the year 2010. The mission of the University is to provide high-quality education so that the students can achieve their desired goals. The programs of the university are very flexible with supervised study and research. The University does not discriminate regarding color, race, age, disability, and religion. It believes in providing equal opportunity.

Subjects and Departments

Southern University has three major faculties under which various degrees including Bachelor, Masters and Engineering degrees are provides. The faculties of the university include- Executive Masters of Business Administration, Masters of Business Administration (Regular), and Bachelor of Business Administration. Under Science Faculty the major departments include- Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Department of Computer Science, and Pharmacy. Major faculties in the arts faculty include- B.A and M.A in English and Islamic Studies. The university has highly educated teachers who are willing to provide superior quality education for the students. Facilities Available for the Students The university has a very big library that contains thousands of books, periodicals, journals, and research papers. The university also publishes many research papers over time. It has indoor gaming opportunity for the students. There are also the common room and canteen facilities available for the students. For the poor and meritorious students, the university provides various scholarship opportunities. The students can arrange and participate in various cultural clubs, debating clubs and English club.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

The university admits new students throughout the year including- spring, summer, and fall. The candidates have to collect the admission form from the admission office in the office hours. The candidates have to submit the form with all certificates, transcripts, mark sheets, letters of recommendation and photographs. For admission in the Undergraduate program, the candidates must have 12 years of schooling, with GPA no less than 2.5 out of 5.00. For admission in Masters Program, the candidates must have 15 years of schooling. The candidates will have to achieve the acceptable mark in the entrance test of the university to be able to get admission. Only the selected candidates will be invited for admission.
