The college was established in the year 1966. Since the establishment the college has been operating with goodwill in spreading women education in Bangladesh. It is the only women college in Bangladesh which is also providing both honors and masters degree to only the women students. The students of this college have brought much reputation to the college from various public examinations.

For Science major, the students must have minimum GPA 3.00 in SSC, for Business studies 3.00 and for Humanity 2.00.

The college offers various subjects to the students of graduation level. Most prominent departments of the college include Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing for Business studies, for Humanity discipline the subjects include English, Bangla, Political Science, and Islamic Studies, and for Science level students the subjects are Physics, Biology, Botany, and Pharmacy and so on.
